Turbulence
These still lifes are an exploration and reflection of the turbulent world I live in. A world that has become more layered and more complicated and one that is often strange and disturbing. These studio photographs are constructed and assembled with combinations of subject matter that I come across or may already have or that someone may give to me. The bits and pieces represent my inner and outer world. I find working on this project both an avoidance and distraction from the outside world and an awareness and recognition of it.
The work relies on the role of my subconscious. Inside that mind there is a mix. Of clarity and confusion. Insight and neurosis. Joy and sadness. Happiness and despair. More questions than answers, the photographs offer a glimpse into my life, both directly through their subject matter and metaphorically through their style.
