The Dead of Night 2022-23
The Dead of Night 2022/23
These studio photographs are constructed and assembled with combinations of things that I may have, additional things that I come across and things that people give to me. They recognize that for me the darkness of night is both an escape from the bright often harsh reality of the daylight but also a place of isolation and perhaps fear.
The work relies on the role of my subconscious. Inside there is a mix. Of clarity and confusion. Insight and neurosis. Joy and sadness. Happiness and despair. More questions than answers, the photographs offer a glimpse into my life, both directly through their subject matter and metaphorically through their style. It is sometimes a strange and disturbing time for me but I am thankful to have something valuable to focus on that provides me with gratification.
