Unhinged 2022
Unhinged is an exploration and reflection of our current social, political, cultural and environmental landscapes; it is my response to the world I live in. A world that has become more layered, more complicated and one that is often disturbing. These studio photographs are constructed and assembled with combinations of things that I may have, additional things that I come across and things that people give to me. They represent my inner and outer landscape.
The work relies on the role of my subconscious. Inside there is a mix. Of clarity and confusion. Insight and neurosis. Joy and sadness. Happiness and despair. More questions than answers, the photographs offer a glimpse into my life, both directly through their subject matter and metaphorically through their style. It is a strange and disturbing time for me but I am thankful to have something valuable to focus on that provides me with gratification.
