Tending to Eden Portfolio: Photographs of Biosphere 2
Tending to Eden
Photographs of Biosphere 2
I first visited Biosphere 2 in 2018, twenty-seven years after its earliest experiments in 1991. The Buckminster Fuller-inspired buildings about 30 miles north of Tucson nestle in the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The University of Arizona now owns Biosphere 2 where scientists highlight environmental research. I have long admired scientists to the point where their undertakings impact my art. The scale, idiosyncrasy and curiosity of the research at Biosphere 2 is stunning: a marvel (and a huge one at that), a tropical rainforest in a desert, that fixed my attention.
Tending to Eden, a portfolio of twelve photographs, was published and printed by the artist using Epson UltraChrome pigment-based inks on Canson Infinity Arches 88 Matte in 10 numbered editions, 3 artist proofs and 1 hors commerce proof.
